Western Australia
2024 saw the first DTC event in Western Australia, with 15 schools participating in a fantastic event. Below are some highlights of the judging sessions, activities on the day and awards!
DTC 2023
DTC23 was our biggest event yet, with 250 students forming 61 teams, representing 26 Australian schools.
Below are some photos of the action from the judging day event at Roberts McCubbin Primary School, held in term 4, 2023.
The theme this year was Green Power, and students coded their own games to educate users about Green Power.

Nicholas Harford
Managing Director at Harford ConsultingNicholas is a sustainability and communications professional. His experience includes general manager environment in manufacturing and recycling, corporate affairs, ministerial adviser at Australian and State Government levels, public affairs professional and a journalist.
Kelly Wickham
Industry Development Coordinator (Energy) at Agriculture VictoriaKelly is experienced in climate, environment & sustainability related programs. Kelly is skilled in the case for bioenergy sector development, corporate social responsibility, environmental management systems and the waste management industry.
Cyrelle Field
Manager Education at Sustainability VictoriaCyrelle manages the delivery of the international award winning ResourceSmart Schools Program that helps schools to reduce their resource use, save money and organise and take action on climate change.
Dominique Dybala
Team Leader, Education at Sustainability VictoriaDominique is an experienced educator working in the school and environmental education field. She is skilled in Environmental Education, Climate Change, Community Engagement, Sustainability, & Professional Development.
Tolga Huseyin

Felicity Millard
Circular Economy Administrator – Tyre Stewardship AustraliaFelicity has a Bachelor with honours in International Business and Economics which she uses to underpin her knowledge in design thinking, sustainable cities, and entrepreneurial action. She is a passionate educator and is guided by the mantra ‘always grateful’.
Kalina Krawczyk
Head of Corporate Stakeholder & Industry Partnerships – Victorian Dept ofTransport & PlanningKalina leads an Industry Partnerships team that drive engagement opportunities to advance collaboration, innovation and social impact between government, industry and the community. With experience across Culture, Systems and Leadership she is passionate about developing creativity in teams to innovate solutions to wicked problems.
Bronwyn Carnes
Data Delivery & Acceleration, Department of TransportBuilding on a background in Accounting and Finance, I have a curious outlook and a passion for the value of data and analysis, bringing an understanding of ‘the what and why’ to build the best outcome and provide value. I have high energy levels, have a drive to communicate the story, a focus on building relationships and a proven ability to bring people together across Business Units, geographies, & skills.
Andrew Jackman
Group Manager IT and Digital - VicTrack Andrew is an innovative, customer-focused, commercially savvy and engaging IT leader. He has worked in IT for 23 years in major sports & entertainment, focusing on IT strategy, operations, and digital delivery. Andrew’s has experience using the design thinking process in multiple areas, including IT project /product delivery, stakeholder engagement, procurement, and vendor management.
Sarah Kaur
Design Thinking Practitioner at CSIRO’s Data61Sarah Kaur is a strategic designer and HCD researcher. Her passion is supporting the creative work of teams across disciplines to collaborate andcome up with smart ways to create impact through using participatory design. She now works as a Design Thinking Practitioner at CSIRO's Data61, where she focusses on research into Responsible AI, and embedding human insight in machine learning and AI research and product development.
William Su
Founder – OwlNest LivingWilliam has over 20 years' data and system experience across banking, retail, eCommerce, government, and not-for-profit sectors. With degrees in Engineering, business and finance, William uses his broad experience and knowledge in database analysis, cloud, digital marketing, and Agile. William is an experienced judge at design thinking and robotics events and loves sharing his wisdom and positive feedback to students.
Yangmengfei (Murphy) Xu
PHD Student
Murphy is currently his PhD in mechatronics, robotics and automation engineering at University of Melbourne. He has served as president of the Ausdroid graduate student group, and is currently their vice-president and worked as an electrical engineer for DJI drone manufacturing, He is a big hearted, passionate coach and advocate for technology and robotics. who is very popular with his students!
DTC 2022
With COVID in the rear view mirror, DTC22 saw entrant numbers grow from 60 to 140, and a fantastic panel of experienced judges joined us on the day at the AI CUBED classrooms in Box Hill, Victoria.
The theme was Cargo and Transport, and judges included senior members of the Vic Department of Transport and Planning.
