Frequently Asked Questions
Will it be too difficult if I have never coded before?
Not at all! How you design your project is your choice and it does not require coding for the submission. We have many teams each year who have never coded before and present their ideas in videos, display boards, websites and physical prototypes.
How many people can be in a team?
We recommend anywhere between two and four people in a team. Each team can have more than four members, but the maximum amount of certificates, medals and awards for teams will be capped at four.
Can I enter as a solo entrant without a team?
Yes you can. We encourage team work, but you are welcome to join on your own. You will not be awarded any points in the collaboration section of judging as a solo entry.
It was free in past years, why does it cost to enter now?
The Design thinking challenge was previously provided free to encourage participation, but to be able to keep the event going and offer an even better experience, and bigger prizes, we have included an entry fee. All money generated by the challenge is used only to cover costs and fund the prize pool.
My school entered in 2024. Will we still be eligible for the entry rebate in 2024?
Yes, all teams will be eligible for the rebate in 2024. Please see the Entry section of the menu.
Do we need to present our project in front of a big audience?
No, you will be presenting only to 2 friendly judges in a classroom. Your parents and family can watch if you would like them there.
I am not sure how to get the challenge started at my school?
Contact us and we can arrange a free training for teachers. You will quickly see how easy it is to get started!
I have entered before, can I enter again the next year?
Absolutely! We encourage teams to continue to enter and improve based on the rubric feedback.
